Live Taping of Person Place Thing

Randy Cohen will speak with renowned Irish writer Colum McCann at a live taping of his WAMC radio show Person Place Thing.

Colum McCann is an Irish writer of literary fiction. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and now lives in New York. He is the co-founder and President of Narrative 4, an international empathy education nonprofit. He is also a Thomas Hunter Writer in Residence at Hunter College, New York. He has written seven novels, three collections of stories and two works of non-fiction. He is best known for his national book award winning novel Let the Great World Spin (2009). He has won the US National Book Award, the Dublin Literary Prize, and has been nominated for an Oscar. His most recent novel, Apeirogon, became an immediate New York Times best-seller and won several major international awards.  His first major non-fiction book, American Mother, was published in January 2024.

Hosted by former New York Times Ethicist Columnist Randy Cohen, PPT features guests who talk about a person, a place, and a thing they find meaningful. Randy pulls out the most interesting details from columnists to musicians, architects, and ballerinas including Rosanne Cash, E. Jean Carroll, and Gene Kohn. The results: surprising stories from great talkers.
