Granny Jackson's Dead

Granny Jackson’s Dead… but her story isn’t.

Her family would like to invite all those who knew her to 991 Fifth Avenue, (except the Kelly’s from the Glens, anyone from the council, Big Jim, Miss Gilmour, and Brendan – he knows what he did) to pay their respects and give her a good send off. She will be dearly missed by her devoted, adoring, clever, beautiful, hardworking, long-suffering, generous-to-a-fault daughter Susan, and by the rest of the family.

Big Telly Theatre Company, along with Inis Nua and Tiny Dynamite, return to Origin First Irish with Granny Jackson’s Dead – named one of The Stage’s Top 50 Shows of 2024.

After two highly successful years as winners of the Theatre Innovation Award at the festival, we’re back with the wildest wake in town.

NOTE: This performance uses flashing lights, loud noises and immersive technology. Themes of death and grief. There is one performance at 6pm and another performance at 8pm.

Duration: 70 minutes.

Big Telly is based in Northern Ireland, and aims to bring world-class theatre to small communities. All of their work is interactive, co-created and bespoke, addressing issues of sustainability, accessibility, and diversifying views on cultural identity. Big Telly hijack familiar stories and spaces such as houses, shops, cafes in order to make audiences feel both safe and brave, mixing up traditions with tech to make bold new story worlds with and for the wider community.
